I have some maintenance code on all my sites. This runs automatically (if needed) after the script has finished processing. I like this ideas better then having a separate chron running.
Is it possible to get php to get apache to send the (finished sending data) and just keep processing in the background whatever needs to be processed instead of having the page not finished loading cause it's running some process in the background... |

1) you should split your page into different parts. Like a footer / header / etc.
Than you can a) include the files in the page. Works only if only the content is different but the page layout is the same.
b) store the content and / or the footer / header in a database. Which is easier to maintain.
2) create static pages with cache so you can maintain and the pages won't loose the preformance.
