i installed apache grand

im running xp2 with apache 2.4

for a while i wasnt able to get it running .. any time i hit http://localhost a page popped up saying IT WORKS!
i didnt get the other page u were supposed to get

After the installation i tryed to start the apache server via the service monitor but it only gave met the error "The Requested operation has failed!".
i googled it and i came here

but NOW for some reason any time i wanna open apache it just crashes
and im at a complete loss

Did you install apache as service? Where did you download your apache?

how does one install it as a service ( to be sure )

from the apache site?

httpd -k install or while the setup if you used the msi file form apache.org

The server monitor works only if you installes apache das service.

The IT WORKS! page mean apache runs well.

What do you do? Is httpd.exe running 2 times in the taskmanager?

okies
i tried httpd -k install in cmd and it said httpd.exe isnt a valid exe..

i downloaded it from the apache site yes

ok

i tried to start the service and the thing crashes on me

Seem that the file you downloaded is corruped.
Uninstall apache and download from a different mirror and try again.

hmm..

very strange

i downloaded 2.2.6 this time instead of 2.2.4 ..and it still crashes

could there be something wrong with my windows installation?

if you downloaded it from this page. Did you install the VS Runtime?

didnt realise u had to
it got SO confusing lookin around for a mirror that said download
maybe im blind i donno
i eventually got it

tell u what man
Gimmie the link to an apache mirror and/or the Vs runtime and we'll see what happens from there
