I am running two servers Apache and the SambarServer. Sambar has some quite nice tools that I use with Apache:
CRON scheduler
Log Rotation
Search Engine
Rss Feedreader
Tagcloud builder
Clock Sync
more..
Above utilities/tools you have in the free Sambar server. If you want even more goodies (eg.mailsever), then you have to buy a license.
I use Apache as mainserver and Reverse Proxy to sambar. Sambar consumes not a lot resources, about 10 Mb here.
For more info on Sambar goto my site www.apachelounge.com/sambar . Sambar is not so common used as Apache, it lacks some powerfull features like mod_rewrite, fullproof php support. But it is a great server to learn the world of servers. In fact it was my first server that i used.

Interesting All-In-One solution...
I also reccomend bircd for IRC,
Apache's mod_ftpd for FTP debugging
and Courier Mail Server (not related with unix project with same name) - 550k mail server, no license needed for 3 users.
Or Mercury Mail server - free and more complex.
PS. nnCron - _very_ powerful cron-like scheduler |
