I have run Apache on Wintel for many years and have recently moved from a Win10 to Win11 machine.

I have Apache 2.4.63-250207-win64-VS17 installed and all working ... it serves content, it's installed as a service and I can start and stop via CLI and service.msc, however... the Apache system tray applet that gave easy access to start/stop/restart the service is missing.

I've been over and over Google and got nowhere, and so...
- No, the icon isn't hidden, at least according to Win11 'Sysem tray icons' options, however...
- Apache simply isn't listed at all under 'Other system tray icons' and so can niether be enabled nor disabled via this route
- What does show in the system tray seems to bear little resemblance to the on/off options I see under 'Other system tray icons', e.g. Safelty remove media is visible in the tray, but is shown as 'Off' in the options!

There were no errors on install, and as mentioned, Apache is running, it's just the convenience of getting the control applet in the system tray is missing. Not insurmountable, but I've not had this issue before. I'd expect it to appear as a part of the install. Correct?

Maybe this all the wonder of Win11? Anyone any ideas, or is this 'a feature of Win11, not a bug'?

Hi,

The apache2.4.63\bin\ApacheMonitor.exe works well under Windows 11.
But, a priori, there is no automatic start-up.

You'll probably have to add it to the Startup Applications in the Task Manager.

Well, that was a bit easy!

I'd been looking for a Monitor in \bin but somehow failed to see ApacheMonitor.exe 🤦‍♂️

Needed to create a shortcut and drop into C:\Users\[userID]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup, but with that, I am indeed sorted. Thank for such a quick and simple fix. I apprecaite it 😊
