I have an Apache web server set up on a Linux computer on a LAN. From my Windows 10 computer on the same LAN, I can ping the server, curl returns the index.html page, but Firefox 135 refuses to find it.
I had this working before, but in a fit of brain-farter-y, I reinstalled Linux and now I'm struggling. I even followed the notes I made the first time I set this all up... not that I'm claiming my notes were comprehensive or exhaustive.
I restored my /etc/hosts file from a back-up. Likewise, all my Apache host conf files (the contents of /etc/apache2/sites-available/).
Firefox on the Linux box finds and serves the site without issue.
The tail command, issued on the Linux box, shows traffic coming from the Windows 10 machine, but only for curl, not ping and not Firefox.
I cleared the history cache on the Windows 10 version of Firefox.
Firefox (on Windows 10) will go to the Apache default page if I type in the IP number.
I also (just in case) rebooted both machines several times.
The Windows 10 computer has an assigned IP so it can't reach the Internet.
Can someone please give me some ideas of what to check next? |

I figured it out. I had neglected to point the Windows 10 computer's DNS at the server. |
