What log viewer should I use. I use BareTail, but it has a nag screen. I need a light one that I can put on a flash drive. |

Well running perl from a USB key is possible!
You need to make the make a bat file that will call it without a drive letter
/perl/bin/perl.exe /somepathrelativetodriveroot/folder/script.pl
althoug youd need atleast a 128mb USB Key though |

For real-time viewing you can use mod_view which is avaliable at the download page. You can then view any (log)file with your browser.

Dude get real.
Why do you really need to track your log files in real time?
What's wrong with BareTail? It's free and you only see the splash screen for less than 20 seconds. If that's too long then shell out the bucks and buy it so that you don't have to see splash screen. Better yet, go whine and complain about to the developer of BareTail and explain why he should just give his hard work away.
Geez, I have read almost every post you made here. You're not paying for anything and getting FREE HELP to boot - What else do you want?
Complicated, Ha! Trying to elicit more sympathy. I just call 'em like I see 'em, and you never seem to do anything for yourself. Try doing some research and reading, and then come back and contribute for a change rather than just leeching everyone's knowledge. |

Indeed, but it is not only sb.net. It is a pobleem with this kind of "open" forums. 96% of the people are just leeching the info and downloads and do not contribute anything. Sometimes it is also frustrating for James (moderator) and me to help others and to get most of the the time not even a thanks, special companies that using the info here to get things running. When sb.nte was a real comapany, I should ban him. But I must say that there are a few that done a Paypal donation, that keeps me motivated to run this site and give help, even when a donation is 2 bucks. On the other hand is my experince that when I help people, mostly I learn also some from it.

I know what your talking about, I removed my donation button on my site I got a total around 4 EUR per month if i spread it out over the year i had it.
I also tried to quit helping people but its just in my nature to share my knowledge. But its true that you almost never get a simple thanks. Worse some people get rude if you try and help but couldn't. Also making over complicated demands and getting a no that won't work seems to tick them off easly too. (e.g. wanting to use apache to serve huge demanding websites on anchient hardware (really 32mb ram??? wtf!)
Note: this isn't aimed at anyone... it just me venting

Sb.net, you do not have to say sorry. The bottomline is only that I (we) like to see that ppl are also contributing. A community that has members who do not contribute is no community. I shall remove your second "sorry post".
You can always contact me if you want to discuss this further.
