Hi all,

Can I use Apache built-in mechanism turning a WordPress website as a private site.

What I expect to achieve are as follows:-
1. Only authorized users can login the site with user ID and password to visit the site, including all pages. This notice is displayed on the HOME page.

2. New users can make request with the expected user ID and I'll email them the password if approved. This notice is also displayed on the HOME page with a click for making request.

If possible please advise how to make it on Apache?

Thanks

Regards

Hi James,

Thanks for your advice.

I have tried it. It only password-protects the Home page, not the complete website.

The upper header of the Home page still can be seen. Clicking the menu tags on the herder I can still read other pages without login

You still can use auth basic https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/mod_auth_basic.html

However with that only you can add users to it.
