Topic: WebDAV and .DAV folders created by apache

Hi all,
I've installed 2 server under ubuntu / apache2 with the webDAV layer. I work perfectly but everytime that I modify or create a file from the client apache create a folder named .DAV on the first server but not on the second.
How can I avoid the creation of those .DAV folders ? If they are mandatories is there any configuration to put them into another folder than the shared/working directories ?

You don't say if your two servers are hosted on the same instance of Ubuntu, so one can only guess at whether the lack of .DAV folders on the second server is down to Apache/WebDAV configuration differences, or OS/filesystem permission differences. By design, they should get created on all WebDAV servers.

The .DAV folders are used to store permission details about the files created through WebDAV in a given folder, and I'm not aware of any means to relocate them elsewhere, not least of which WebDAV need to be able to see these permission details, e.g. PROPFIND. So believe you'll have to accept these supposedly hidden folders.

It's a long time since I dabbled with WebDAV, which is a pretty old standard these days, and as you've doubtless noted hasn't been updated for many years. Although stable and reliable, your mileage may vary depending on the mixture of clients connecting to it.
