Hello,
during the last few years, PostgreSQL has become a viable alternative to MySQL. I am migrating gradually off of MySQL mainly due to Oracle's tendency to transform applications into monster applications.
PostgreSQL packages for Windows are available and many popular PHP packages support both in the meantime.

Lots of people using MySQL are just switching to MariaDB. Why didn't you consider it? |
