so I have this version installed on a Windows 2012 server with file deduplication turned on (the feature built into Windows). it seems as if whenever apache tries to serve a file which has been deduplicated, i get a Forbidden http error message. (i also had this issue with 2.4.6 32-bit VC9)
I've been able to (pardon the pun) duplicate the problem at will by creating a new text file, observe that it is served OK, then create a copy of the file in the same folder named something else, perform a forced run of the deduplication job.. then observe that both files are Forbidden. If I make a copy of the file, it will be served up OK until the next time the Deduplication scheduled task runs and dedupes the file.
Has anyone else experienced this? has this been fixed in a newer version (e.g. VC11?) ? |

What is exact line of the error in the apache error.log and/or access.log ?
Anything in the windows event viewer ?
When you think it is a error in httpd, you can file the bug at https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/ |

I get this in the log file:
[Fri Oct 11 00:02:20.178629 2013] [core:error] [pid 6932:tid 1248] [client 10.42.0.41:65367] AH00038: Forbidden: G:/Users/brassband/public_html/images/slider/ss4.jpg doesn't point to a file or directory, referer: http://zorak2.monmouth.edu/~brassband/index.php
though clearly this IS a file.. other jpgs in the same folder are served OK (ss4.jpg is deduplicated though).
I'm hesitant to open an apache bug about this because if it were a real problem, i'm sure someone would have reported this long long ago as dedupe was a highly anticipated feature of win2012.. and win2012 has been out for quite awhile now too..
can anyone else reproduce this problem? |
