Hi
I have downloaded httpd 2.2.22 for win32
Today for sometime there was no internet but i wanted to read some apache docs so I opened c:/apache/manual/index.html and this is what i got
Quote:
# GENERATED FROM XML -- DO NOT EDIT URI: index.html.de Content-Language: de Content-type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 URI: index.html.en Content-Language: en Content-type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 URI: index.html.es Content-Language: es Content-type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 URI: index.html.fr Content-Language: fr Content-type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 URI: index.html.ja.utf8 Content-Language: ja Content-type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 URI: index.html.ko.euc-kr Content-Language: ko Content-type: text/html; charset=EUC-KR URI: index.html.pt-br Content-Language: pt-br Content-type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 URI: index.html.tr.utf8 Content-Language: tr Content-type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 URI: index.html.zh-cn Content-Language: zh-cn Content-type: text/html; charset=UTF-8

I noticed that there is index.html.en file so I opened that but when i clicked on any link on the page I got similar text as above for that link.

How I can get easily browse-able documentation?

Thanks

View it through your Apache

http://localhost/manual

provided you have allowed Apache to show documentation by uncommenting the line in httpd.conf

Include conf/extra/httpd-manual.conf

Thanks. It works.

Is there any mention of this method of browsing?
I tried to read httpd wiki FAQ but couldn't find the solution.

Beyond testing to see if the initial installation works, I don't think so. Let your imagination run wild, see what you can do with the hosts file on your computer. (hint: for every site I have available to the outside world, I also have a way to get to it from the inside using hosts files)

yeah I am using hosts file for my virtual hosts and to stop malware/adware etc.

for browsing apache docs I have created keyword in browser as 'ad' which open docs.
