Applied the official ASF patch r1037727, mentioned at http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi#mod_fcgid
It fixes regression in 2.3.6 which broke process controls when using vhost-specific configuration. vhost_id was referenced from the wrong structure, and never matched unless there were no vhost-specific directives in the vhost of the request.
Here at the forum there are issues reported with (complex) Active Directory, the famous " (70008) Partial results... " error.
Applied the patch at https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=51020 (see the comments there).
The updated version is available as mod_fcgid-2.3.6-P2 with the two patches.

You might also want to include 50309 and from http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi#mod_fcgid

A patch is available here for a regression in this release. The patch has not been applied to the Windows binaries.

Included r1037727.
Before I apply the mentioned patch in the bug report 50309, I rather like first that someone (eg. ASF committer) does a code review.
Thanks! |

Asked ASF to review the patch mentioned in bug report 50309.
Waiting for the result.

I think Jeff has reviewed it, and denied it because of the trail back to which it came. It is Tom's patch from 2.2, which worked up through 2.3.5. At 2.3.6 it needed a slight modification to make it fit 2.3.6, Sob helped, and Mario posted the new bug report 50309.

I suppose if everyone here at the Apache Lounge voted on it, it would turn red in the Bugzilla search and it could no longer be ignored further. Even quicker might be for Tom to OK it, and I had asked, but he could not make 2.3.6 do it's dirty deed and therefore never got behind the patch.
There in lies the biggest problem with this bug, it doesn't happen on every machine. I have still never figured out what the magic thing is that means it will show up or not show up. I just know I have three computers I can test it on and 3 different versions of Windows and it shows on all of them. Some it's not as easy to make happen on, but, even though this is taking it to the extreme, all you really have to do is;
start Apache in console
request anything php (phpinfo is enough)
press ctrl+break about 5 times in a row
down it goes.
Interestingly, there's another more complex solution offered by the person the wrote this ACL (70008 error) patch that sounds like it targets the same problem.

Got a word from Tom, the original author of the patch. He shall try to make time to debug it some more.

Well, as stated, this IS the 2.2 patch, and the only modification was really removing one stanza. I do have an email from him stating I can use freely, and Tom, I do honestly thank you for that, cannot thank you enough! The Haus has gotten a lot of use out of it, and over 500 people have gotten use out of the modified one for 2.3.6 with no complaints. |
