Hi,

I am running Apache 2.2.15 with PHP 5.3.2 on a local server. All works well.

I want to update Apache to the latest version: 2.2.17

I have downloaded an installer package: httpd-2.2.17-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi

When I run this installer, it says I have to uninstall Apache 2.2.15 first.

I am nervous that if I do this I will break what is already working well.

First question: Is this the right installer package that I should be using?

Second question: If in Windows 7, I completely uninstall Apache V 2.2.15, then run the above installer package, when the installer has finished, will everything be back to normal and working as it is now. including my Webserver, mysql, php, and my locally based website, etc.

Or is it not this simple and I have to do other things as well as part of the updating process?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am new and have not updated Apache before and don't want to damage what is already working well.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris
Make a backup copy of your version of apache (the folder apache/conf) if you have installed additional modules that backup copy folder /apache, then uninstall the old version of Apache, download Apache [url=http://www.apachelounge.com/download/[/url], follow the instructions in the archive, the installation does not require installation just create a directory, unzip the files in the archive and follow the instructions from the attached description file, then edit the configuration files using your previous configuration server apache.

PS:If you are using the version from apache.org then use the installer msi, the difference in the builds that build on apache.org collected on VC6 on a apachelounge.com on VC9, in the future it will affect for example: the choice of builds php VC6 or VC9

Dmitry Hi,

Got the file now. Thank you.

So is this right:
1) I rename the folder C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2 to C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2OLD
2) I copy the newly extracted folder called Apache2 and put it in the folder C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\
3) I rename it to Apache2.2
4) I delete the new conf folder and replace it with my old conf folder.
5) I re-boot
