Ok so I'm not new to apache, but I am new to apache on windows.
I'm currently running 2.2.17. I had it installed through a third party application called "Xampp". The problem is, it won't start up at all.
To clear up any confusion I've been googling and looking for almost 2 days.
I've tried setting it as a service so as it will start before any other services that bind to port 80. I've edited the conf file so it won't bind to port 80 and use a different one. I've set my antivirus so it will ignore application scanning on the HTTP protocol. I've disabled and tried to see if any processes are using 80. I have a problem now that my "system Idle Process" is connecting to random addresses through 80. I'm not sure if that is the problem, but I've been through everything I can think of "sigh".
I've heard of http.sys, but I edited the registry file so that it won't run and that hasn't even worked.
I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong here =(
Can anyone help? I'd really appreciate it. |

Well, specifically what does the error say in the Windows Event Log? Or what does it say in it's error log.
What Windows flavor is this on?
That this error is happening even on another port has my suspicions up on a scenario I was just discussing with one of the Apache developers. I will however not go into that until I know more and only if I still think that could be it.
At this time however, my guess is no better than yours. |

Only for correctness: XAMPP has 2.2.14 in the stable version and 2.2.16 in the beta. I wonder where you got apache 2.2.17 |
