Per an earlier note, I recently installed WAMP and everything seems to be working fine. I now need FTP on the site(s) I am serving. I downloaded and followed the instructions to install Apache FTP Server (from mina.apache.org/ftpserver). I installed it as a service on my WinXP box, and it appears as a service via Services, but I can't get it to start. There is no error message when I try the manual start, but the System Event log has the following:
The Apache FtpServer service terminated with service-specific error 0 (0x0).

I have installed Sun JVM.

What am I missing, or do you all recommend something better for FTP?

Thanks!

S

wait a few days for mod_ftp-0.9.5 beta to come out for Apache
or ... I've been using Filezilla for years now. Works well.

Yep, I kept at it and found FileZilla too, and it works great, so I'll just go with that. Thanks!

I run mod_ftp on a test server since since some days. Works great, but there are some issues with UTF-8 file names.
FileZilla is easier to configure with that gui and has some features Rolling Eyes

Big advantage from mod_ftpd you can use the .htasswd files for auth from apache.
