This one has got me stumped. I searched a bit, but I did not see anyone with the same issue.
Environment
Windows 2003 SP1
PHP 5.2.6
2GB of RAM
Single Processor VM
Apache 2.2.6 to 2.2.9 refuse to run as a service. When I start the service, it times out waiting for Apache to start. There are no errors in the event log, nor are there any in the error.log. Error reporting level is set to debug.
What is strange was Apache was running for as a service for a while. Then one day I go to restart it, and it never restarted completely. If I run the binary from the Apache folder, everything runs fine, no errors are reported, and I can access the websites on this box.
What I have tried so far,
- Upgraded Apache from 2.2.6 to 2.2.9. I used a different folder from the original.
- I remove and added the services. I even tried this for each version of apache.
- I upgraded PHP from 2.2.3 to 2.2.6
Yes the machine has been rebooted a few times since this started happening. Which a couple months ago.
I get no errors of any kind to indicate what is going on. Anyone have any clue what else I can try?
No idea why it started to work, but it is now.

Same thing, I did a clean install of Apache as well. I guess this is a very unusual issue. |
