I'm a bit confused on the best way to upgrade my Apache installation from 2.2.6 to 2.2.8. From reading the Apache Online Manual thing and searching through google, there appears to be no upgrade path besides uninstalling the old version, installing the new and configuring it.
Problem is, I spent hours and hours setting up Apache following guides getting it perfect, the last thing I want to do is risk it all and kill it and start fresh. Is there any upgrade path that can be taken?
I tried running apache_2.2.8-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi and it moans that the product is already installed. I was hoping to just over right the previous version, and at most just place the configuration file back in. Sadly no luck yet.
Has anyone else been here and done an upgrade, and if so what did they find the easist way?

Make first a backup of your Apache folder.
Be sure that Apache and Apachemonitor is not running.
Download the binary from the Apache Lounge and copy all files over, except the conf folder and other files you changed.
Install the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package, see the ReadMe.txt in the .zip
