Hi guys,
Our web server running XP SP2, Apache 2.2.4, mySql 5.0 and PHP 5 was having problems with random freezes of Apache (one to three times a day). Needless to say there was no clue in the logs as to what was causing any of these freezes. The need to restart Apache and, in about 50% of cases, to reboot the server was wearing thin and making clients unhappy.
I upgraded to Apache Lounge 2.2.8, PHP 5.2.5 and MySql 5.0.51. The upgrade was relatively straightforward with the exception of MySql where it was necessary to take some special actions to eliminate all traces of previously running MySql as a service. (There's a host of sites with info on what to do...)
Since installing the upgrades the system has run quite happily and has not needed restarting or rebooting.
Not sure if the issue was overcome by upgrading Apache, php or mySql - no matter. Excellent work guys and a most helpful site. |
