|
|
Hi.
I just brought myself a starter kit for apache, mysql and php that i was wishing to install on my local system but alas it wouldn't allow me to do so.
Each of the installs but the php (which is a basic zip) wouldn't allow installation via the msi file.
I was just wondering whether the fact that my chipset being a AMD 64bit would prevent this, due to the *.msi s' provided are 32bit.
Error Message:
"Windows would not allow this setup to complete due to unforseen issues with the msi and / or permissions with the system"
I have root access based on a windows XP pro (media center edition).
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks,
brad |

No a AMD or Intel 64-bit enabled CPU in running 32-bit (regular) windows should give a problem at all.
Even on Windows for x64 it workes fine.
You could always try to do a manual install from the packages available here. |

Have you installed Windows Installer 3.1? Have you run Windows Update?
Not being able to run the Installer Service (MSI handler) is usually a product of the Windows Installer Service either not running or being out of date. |

A worst case scenerio, wipe and reload the OS if you cannot even get .net 2.0 to install. If you have a spare HD, swap it out and try a clean install. When you cannot even install the framework such as .net then there is something greater at play.
I could not even venture a guess since I have never seen such a problem. AV software or perhaps spyware software blocking it? There should be no spyware and very benign AV software on a server. Just a few thoughts. |

Perhaps a little less sauce and you may find that the you could reach the solutions to your IT problems. I have been intoxicated before, and when I was drinking a little, I never thought to try posting in a technical support forum, I found that seeking the attention of the opposite sex was a more inviting way to spend my time.
This may be a time where you need to spend some sober time reading how things work. If you are telling the us that you wiped and reloaded, and you were not able to install .net framework, you are doing something wrong.
Maybe you are trying to install the wrong package? Under the circumstances I suspect that this may be possible. |

lol, nah i'm good, just got home when i posted that, soz bout that, but yer I've tired installing several differant types but all of them to no success. Ran windows update too, most of the things installed correctly BUT .NET Framework. etc etc.
Its just not working and I have no idea why... its annoying seeing as though its worked in the past on the same pc. |
