Differences between Gas and Electric Stoves
Previously, we only used fire to cook food, but now, with modern technology, we can convert electric energy into heat energy to do the same task. Therefore, we have two stove options – gas and electric. But what is different about them? We will show you what to expect of the two kitchen appliances.

What are they?
A gas stove is a kitchen stove that draws combustible gas from a gas canister as fuel to create fire for cooking food. Meanwhile, an electric stove integrates an electrical heating device, which is the process of guiding the electric current through a heat conducting material, for cooking purposes.
What is the price difference?
Though the gas version is usually cheaper than an electric one, the difference between them is not much. A gas model price is around $800 to $2,300, while it is $650 to $2,800 for an electric range. But that is just the price for the stove itself.
After you have purchased one, you need to consider the power source to use it. A gas stove requires combustible gas, and the other needs electric power. The price can go up and down on the market, so it is hard to give a precise answer, but most of the time, the cost of gas is usually cheaper than electric energy, so using a gas stove will require less investment for daily operation.

What’s the difference between them?
With a gas stove, the fire will directly touch the pan, pot, and other utensils that are required in cooking, which allows us to cook faster while also giving better control over the heat. Moreover, we can cook food without tools in the form of charring, toasting, and flambéing. However, you will have to interact closely with the fire, which can be dangerous, as an accident can occur if you get careless. There is also a risk of gas leaking – a serious problem that could result in a gas explosion. So for safety measures, it is best to install a carbon monoxide detector in your kitchen. If you haven't been able to buy one yet, you can check if the gas is leaking by smell: the gas has a distinct odor that you should be able to notice easily.
On the other hand, an electric stove requires waiting for a period of time for the conducting metal to heat up. That also means that there will be a short delay between heat settings, leading to harder control. But instead, you won’t have to interact with fire, so there will be less risk, and it will be easier to clean than a gas-type stove. However, that still doesn't mean you are 100% safe from getting burned.
Conclusion
Which one is better? It all depends on your preferences. If you are used to operating a gas stove and are a committed chef, a gas stove is a better choice for you. However, an electric stove is better if you tend to lean towards a safer option for you and your family.
