Oh man, that is such big step. If that is needed than you probably need to recompile first. If your program isnt ready then dont even try running that on latest Tomcat but invest some more time in research. |

I would do a second installation of a new server or a Client to test it. And than a parallel installation if possible. |

My Apache Tomcat Windows server has following componenets:
1. Windows Server 2003 SP2 Standard Edition
2. IIS 6.0
3. Apache Tomcat 4.1
4. Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_02
5. Java 2 SDK, SE v1.4.2_02
Now, I would like to know what is the effect if I want upgrade:
1. Java 1.4 to Java 1.6 (or)
2. Java 1.4 to Java 1.7 (or)
3. Java 1.4 to Java 1.8.
Also, after upgradation will the above components have any affect?
Please provide the necessary solution to do so.. |

As far as I know you can upgrade Java and your Tomcat should still run. But why don't you also upgrade your Tomcat? |
