Tonight I visited www.php.net.

It seems that the mainpage and also other pages have been hacked!

It shows on the main page something like this:

503: Stop SOPA/PIPA and some more text.

Also other pages seem to be infected. They show:
Stop SOPA/PIPA [americancensorship.org]
over the php banner !!

I'm wondering if they are running Apache server software !!

It's not a hack, they and many other sites are blacked out today in protest over two pieces of legislation in America called SOPA (stop online piracy act) & PIPA (protect IP act). Both are draconian measures to stop online piracy of movies, music & software.

The thing about them is, it will not stop sites like Pirate Bay from continuing, it will just make it so that Americans cannot get to them. What's worse is these bills are so badly worded they could be used by anyone to put down any site they simply do not like. There is no need to prove they are distributing the wares, just accuse a site of it is all that is needed.

Hopefully, today, many of the people in the American Congress & Senate will start backing away from their support of these, which come up for vote soon. The President said today he would veto it. That doesn't mean he can kill it, it can go back to the Senate for another vote and become law if there is a 2/3 majority, which they currently seem to have.
