yesterday morning (14th July) we discovered that apache wouldn't start because of a faulting module (php5ts.dll). Two windows patches had installed overnight and rebooted server automatically (we've now disabled this - was left on in error).
The two patches in question were KB2555917 and KB2507938.
Removing these patches didn't work, neither did re-installing PHP 5.3.6 and latest apache version from apachelounge.
In the end, we restored server from about a week ago and that worked OK. wasn't sure of the cause until I see today that other people are blaming these patches for their woes on other systems.
Would appreciate any news from other users expereincing similar problems.
regards

I've installed that two updates on my german XP Pro (testing system). So far no issues with that. I think it is might an PHP extension that crashes. Which extensions do you have enabled in your php.ini? Which OS do you run? |

Hmmm. I've got MySQL, ODBC, MS SQLSRV, MS SQLSRVLITE (all required) but I think I could drop the Postgress module. I need to ENABLE a module to allow processing of DBF files (a new requirement).
Running MS SERVER 203 Standard.
Will keep researching but if you hear anything please let me know.
Many thanks

Yesterday I installed KB2555917 and KB2507938 on my W2K8R2 without any issues. Also on Win7 x64 Ultimate no issues. |
