If I just have static web pages on my Apache server, can the server get infected with a worm or virus? Is the server vulnerable to any attacks? What can be done to protect the server from threats. I am behind a router/firewall with only port 80 open to the server. This is my first server attempt and I do not want it to be my last.

When you have only static HTML pages with no upload facilities(forms) and using no databases (like Mysql), I think you do not have to worry.
Be sure that you update your windows with the latest security fixes.
