Hello dear Community!
After the installation of XAMPP I wanted to try out the now installed Apache-server.
Locally (from the same computer, where i installed XAMPP) it is no problem to access the webpage by entering the from the router assigned IP (192.168.16.23).
However, if I try the same from another participant of the network, I only get the usual message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" (see screenshot). http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/7977/nichterreichbarnp4.jpg
(Software)-Firewall is turned off, Apache runs as a service.
The content of httpd.conf: http://www.myupload.dk/showfile/6471526388.conf
To the configuration: We get the internet access above in the dwelling by modem (?), a cable carries the inet down into the company to a router(Surecom EP-4508), there stands the PC on which XAMPP is installed.
In the router menu I forwarded port 80, which is used by Apache (see screenshot). http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/5839/portforwardinget9.jpg
I am not really sure whether not perhaps I should use "Virtual Server" (see screenshot). I do not understand, what is meant with "your Routers WAN IP Adress". http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/7125/virtualserverph8.jpg
Well, that was a lot of information, I hope you can do something with it.
Please excuse eventual grammar or vocabulary mistakes. English is unfortunately not my mother language.
Thanks already in advance.

Your english is fine. I understood fine.
httpd.conf looks fine as I glanced over it.
Firewall forward looks good as long as the server's LAN IP is 192.168.16.23
IS there any other firewall on the computer? Like one that came with Anti-virus like you get with Norton Internet Security for example. If windows firewall is turned off, and you cannot get to it from another computer on the LAN, then there has got to be another firewall in play here. It is the only thing that makes any sense to me. |

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, the LAN IP is 192.168.16.23
Unfortunately I am very sure that no other software-firewalls are installed, Zone Alarm is deactivated and I did not install the firewall which came with "Panda Antivirus + Firewall", it says that the firewall was not installed in the control panel of Panda. Windows firewall is turned off too.
There are no other routers attached, so another hardware-firewall is not a possibility. |

ZoneAlarm ... ZoneAlarm and Apache simply do not play together. There should be a warning on XAMMP pages about it. There used to be one on the Apache download page. I used to have zonealarm myself long ago. One thing I noticed then was even though I turned it off, it still blocked.
It is like it creates the block on Install and just opens it for things while it is running, when not running blocks are still in place and all closed. I'm surprised you can use your browser online from that machine w/ ZA turned off.
Remove completely ZoneAlarm (this is not always an easy task, hopefully by now it is easier than it was before). The Windows Firewall and the one in the router should be plenty, one at the perimeter and one at the machine level.
That is the problem, I'd bet on it. |

Thank you very much for trying to help me, glsmith.
I lost my nerves and just bought a new router, as I thought that the problem was located there. And I just couldn't believe what happened: It simply worked! I can now reach my homepage with my internal or external IP adress. FTP is working too.
Thanks again for helping me, now everything works fine. |
