Alright.. forgive the newb-ness, here. I tried searching around for an answer, but apparently I'm not very good at that, so..
I had a server up and running fine for a couple of months with no problems. And then one day out of the blue, it started only working on http://localhost.
I can't imagine what I might have changed.. I don't use the server computer for anything else.
Is it something my ISP could have changed/blocked? Maybe after a couple months, they found out I was doing something horrible like using my connection for something other than checking email, and blocked my insanely-low-bandwidth-using blog? ^^?
Or did I miss an update of something, somewhere, that killed it?
Help please~ ^^; |

Sure you changed nothing ? Or maybe there is something broken, eg. you router, network cable etc.
Do you have a dynamic IP ? If so maybe the IP is changed. Try to ping your box with the domain and/or IP (allow pinging in your firewall)

I can ping the IP and domain from other computers on my network, and it's fine.. but if I try to visit the same website I just pinged, it comes back:
"Unable to connect.
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at [domain].mine.nu"
..ah.. I'm in over my head @.@
The IP shouldn't have changed.. and I think the DynDNS Updater should catch it if did..? |

Be sure to check the IP at DynDNS.
Looks indeed a network and/or hardware issue, from here hard to diagnose.
Did you powered of/on your box(es) and other pheriphals, sometimes it brings all up again.

Yeah, I restarted them all.. hm.. what a pain @.@
If I bring up Firefox and type in the IP address, instead of the domain name, it changes it to the domain name.. so that much of it is working. Just wont bring up the actual page anymore if I'm not on the server computer. |

Mail me your domain and IP, so I can try to ping from here.

Alright.. after you tipped me off to the fact that it works fine on your computer, I tested it in other locations today.
Seems that it works everywhere.. except in places that use my ISP.
So it's (obviously) not Apache's fault XD
But if there are some bored people who have more experience in this than me.. any guesses on what he blocked to do that? Did he just block us from visiting my domain name?
I'm not even sure I want to try to fix it, if he actually targeted and blocked me on purpose. Although I don't know why he'd do it that way, since there can't be more than 10-20 people that use this ISP (behold: country living >.>).. so it's not really an effective way to stop me from doing.. much of anything.
Never fails to amaze me, though.. had to explain to him last month what peer-to-peer filesharing was, and how using it to patch World of Warcraft was different than using BitTorrent to download illegal mp3s >.>
Either way.. thanks a lot for your help :3 |
