Topic: Installation problem with 2.0.55 on XP

I am new to this...maybe you can point me in the right direction.

I downloaded apache_2.0.55-win32-x86-no_ssl,exe (the 7.5 Mb version) then double-clicked it to install. It goes through a Preparing to Install message then launches the Apache HTTP Server 2.0 Installation Wizard.

The Wizard does a little preparing to instal then gives a notice that the Installation Wizard was interrupted before Apache HTTP Server 2.055 could be completely installed...Your system has not been modified.

There is no other information like an error number listed.

I am running XP Professional with Service Pack 2. I have not installed Apache previously on the system and it does not show up on the Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services list.

As an aside, I also initially tried to just download the msi file without the installer since I already have it on the system and got the same message.

Any help on this?

I should have mentioned that I do run Norton Internet Security...but had it disabled during the install.

Is there any log file or anything I can look at to get more info on why Apache was interrupted during installation? I think I have a pretty standard XP system (see notes on original post) so don't understand why it can't even get off the ground.

The install notes say to have Service Pack 1 installed. I have Service Pack 2 so I assume this is OK...also checked on all Windows updates on the Microsoft site...all is current.
