I am looking for something like:
apache_2.2.6-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi
I guess I've got to be a bit more patient and just wait right?
...because I don't need SSL on my local machine here. An installer comes more handy for me.
I installed the 2.2.6 binaries (and didn't install the SSL) or better exchanged them with 2.2.4 and it seems to run fine so far |

The reason for the no-ssl versions was export restrictions, which don't really apply to OpenSSL any more in most parts of the world.
If you don't enable SSL in httpd.conf, the rest of Apache is exactly the same.
You could delete these files if you are sure you won't use SSL (saving about 1mb of disk space and resulting in the same as a no-ssl install)modules\mod_ssl.so
bin\ssleay32.dll
bin\libeay32.dll

Thank you for your immediate answer. As it runs local here there's no worry about disk space
I leave it as is and just don't enable SSL in the httpd.conf |

Heres a binary version of Apache 2.2.6.
http://{removed}/apache_2.2.6-win32-x86-openssl-0.9.8e.exe
ADMIN NOTE: This was Apache 2.2.6 with SSL. It will be available from the Apache download site once 2.2.6 for Windows is released. |
