If the 'start', 'restart' and 'stop' shortcuts on your Windows startup menu don't seem to actually start and stop Apache you may need to give them permission to run as an administrator.
Right click the shortcut. Click 'properties'. Click 'advanced' and select the checkbox for 'run as an administrator'. Click 'ok', then 'apply'. You will have to work through a bunch of permission acceptance screens, just confirm or ok to each.
Do this for each of the three shortcuts in turn.
Note that the fourth shortcut in the 'control Apache' folder won't work because the 'Monitor Apache Servers' programme does not work 'as is' on Vista, this is a known bug. To get it to work, right click on the icon and select 'properties' then the 'compatability' tag. Now check the box for 'run this programme in compatibility mode for:' and select 'Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the list. Also check 'run this programme as an administrator'. Click 'apply' and accept any permission screens that appear.
That should give you a working set. |
