Maybe i am right in this forum, i am not sure, but this forum i spezialised in Windows on Apache - right?
I might be overred it, but i am searching for a howto to setup Windows for Apache which i couldn´t find in this forum.
To make it a bit more specific, i don´t need a howto to install Apache i need a howto the setup a Windows OS to use it for a Apache Webserver and for hardening Windows. I tried google, but couldn´t find something like that. Maybe because it is so easy, i don´t know. Also the Apache website wasn´t helpful. Maybe someone can help me with a link, that would be very helpful.
I can only choose Win98 or Win2000 as OS.

Windows is not worth a hardening.
Install Win2000 + SP4 and install Apache and whatever you need as root or as a user. If a hacker wants to hack your win server it is not important if you installed as root or as a user. He will hack the server. The next step is to set up an external firewall on a second PC. Use ipcop, fli4l or something else. Hope this helps.
Yes indeed, howtos are somewhat rare about Win Servers. Not even this forum can give help and here are lots of people running a Win Server. |
