Recently upgraded to apache 2.2.9 but mod security will not run now.
Tried the latest version 2.5.5 but apache will not start..

Removed the rules but still no luck.
So assume it is not an issue with the rules I have..

Anyone had similar experiences??

THanks

My experience with this is core-rules bring down Apache on certain things. My old set of rules I used before works for the most part..

I think it is something in APR 1.3.x that mod_sec doesn't like.

I am planning (later today) to compile 2.2.9 with APR 1.2.x and mod_sec against that and see if I still have the problem.

One thing that might help others here is;
Are you using Apache from ASF or Here?
Mod_sec same queston.

Edit:

My problem seems to be interaction with mod_cgi.c, that's where it crashes.

mod_sec 2.5.x has a double whammy, back in April testing against APR1.3 if libxml2 was built against APR 1.2.12 and mod_sec built agains APR1.3 w/ Libxml2 (apr 1.2) the module would not load, which is where you seem to be.

My 2.2.9 is from Apache project and the mod security is from here..so I guess that maybe my issue.

I had trouble getting it to run on our one Win2k server. I just gave up on that and moved Win2k3 on all our servers and have no problem getting things running. Not saying it does not work on Win2k, but I could not make it happen.

I'm VC6 + VC6, cannot believe that is the problem.
but .. but ... I may not be insane Smile

Edit:

That did it for me, all core-rules in use and YaBB and Wiki admin are working fine. By did it I mean version 2.5.6, not the Directive fix, didn't try it
