Topic: localhost - I'm getting a 'File Download - Security Warning'

Hi, I'm new to this, but keen to learn!

I've gone through the process of installing Apache, but can't get past the HTTP://localhost stage. I get a 'File Download - Security Warning' asking me to save an unknown file type from local host?

If I use http://127.0.0.1/ I get a message 'It Works!'

I've tried searching the Forum for ideas, but I'm getting stuck now. Can you help?

Which OS do you running? Which Apache version? Any other software like PHP, perl? Please read the Forum rules

I'm running Win XP,
apache_2.2.4-win32,
php-5.2.1-Win32,
mysql-essential-4.1.22-win32.

I haven't tried different browsers, I'm just running win explorer. I have tried installing and uninstalling the various software listed above, and have gone through about three different versions of 'How to install'! The Apache service monitor gives the green light.

My error log appears to be OK?

I have appeared to solve the problem, not quite sure how?

I copied another HTML file to the htdocs folder. Renamed it index and opened it using 127.0.0.1. It opened. I then tried opening using localhost and my problem went away?

This seems totally illogical! I must have done something else?

What the hell. It's working now.
